CONNECTIVITY: MAPPING OUR SOCIAL NETWORK
Artist Teacher Ellie Balk bridged the gap between Juan Morel Campos English Language Arts and Math with Jessie Carrancio and Jesse Cohen’s 7th grade classes. In this project, students explored the modes, subjects and recipients of their communication. Through the analysis and graphing of personal communication data logs, the students tracked their communication habits. This information was then processed to create person nodes where the students selected representative colors that correspond to the emotional subtext of the data. For this installation, the nodes have been connected inter-personally, creating a map of the social network of their Campos community. A partnership with BRIC Contemporary Arts Education
