InSITE 2020 is coming back…as InSITE STL!

The original project was set to launch spring of 2020, but was paused with the rest of us. We are re-imagining the project in 2022 and I see this as an amazing opportunity to collect a new set of data from previous participants so that we can compare our phone usage from pre-pandemic to now.

THE DATA:
I have been thinking about the intersection between public and private within the realm data: in collection, visualization and interpretation. Continuing this focus, I am conducting a survey and visualizing information about how individual people are using their phones to connect to each other, a very private and intimate set of data, anonymously made public.

THE VISION:
The data will be visualized and printed on transparent vinyl and will be installed on large windows in Downtown St. Louis. WIth this kind of installation we will be able to use light and color to create a work that can be visually interactive.
This project is part of InSITE STL, an exhibition of the Downtown St. Louis Public Art Initiative. (https://racstl.org/programs/insite-2020/) and will be revamped in the Spring of 2022.

PARTICIPATION:
In February of 2020 I gathered over 60 surveys. For 2022, I would like to get at least 30 comparative data sets from the previous participants. To contribute, you need to have an iPhone with “screen time” enabled. You will be asked questions about how you are currently using your phone.  The data will be aggregated and visualized anonymously.  In exchange for your input, I will gift you a print of your personalized data sets.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST, THE SURVEY IS NOW REOPENED ONLY TO PEOPLE WHO FILLED OUT A SURVEY PREVIOUSLY.
